Bulgaria to Ljubljana
Our last night in Bulgaria was spent in a tiny resturant in Sofia with about 10 friends. It was perfect. Good, authentic Bulgarian cusine with good rakia. Could not ask for more. In the morning, we headed off to the train station to catch our night train to Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The train took 20 hours- since we had beds, it was a comfortable 20 hours. Some music, some bread, and some reading killed the time and we quickly arrived in Ljubljana. In typical form, we had not planned for a place to stay and our first goal was to find a place - mainly to ditch our bags.
After three hours of wandering and being turned away from hostels, we found the tourist information desk. Within 20 minutes we had found a place in the dead center of town and were off to find some food.
Our first meal of the trip was a little resturant on the river that was next to a fresh fish market. We ordered two kinds of grilled fish and some calimari. It was fantastic.
The rest of the day was spent wandering the old town. The castle on the hill. The tiny side streets. Cafes, cafes, cafes.
After almost 10 hours of walking, we decided to pick up some dinner and a couple beers...
